Data management plan for the project “Status determination of the sentinel lymph node via light sheet fluorescence microscopy”

Year: 2019
Type: report
Abstract: Melanoma specific survival correlates with the diameter of melanoma metastases in the sentinel lymph node (SLN).This diameter is currently measured two-dimensionally, analyzing a select number of histology sections.Currently, neither the exact 3-dimensional metastatic volume nor the metastatic load is routinely assessed by histopathology as determination of those parameters requires costly and time-consuming sequential sectioning of the whole SLN.Furthermore, there is a chance to miss small metastasis while analyzing only a fraction of the available slices. Therefore, our aim is to develop a method that is capable of i) detecting small tumor clusters in the whole sentinel, ii) quantifying 3-D metastatic load and iii) simultaneously characterizing the cellular environment and anatomical LN architecture.
