Inhibitory effect of calcium channel blockers on the deterioration of lung function in adult-onset asthma
Year: 2021
Type: article
Abstract: Even with the recent developments in asthma therapy, severe asthma (SA) remains difficult to treat and leads to considerable morbidity and mortality. Chronic oral corticosteroid use increases adverse effects. Biologics were recently introduced for the treatment of SA. They have markedly improved the treatment results. However, they are very expensive and are geared only toward TH2 prone allergic asthma. Affordable therapeutics that benefit all phenotypes are needed. Drug repositioning might be a good option for this purpose.
