Year: 2020
Type: preprint
Abstract: This research focuses on the problems faced by the traditional method of delivering teaching and learning and ways to elevate them through the provision of technologically-mediated tool. The study investigated into more efficient methods of delivering teaching and learning. The researched environment is characterized by inadequate instructional time as well as proper time keeping among tutors in order not to affect another course delivery time on teaching time table. The researchers used Moodle as a virtual learning environment (VLE) to solve the above listed problems. Action Case Study was used for this study due to the fact that changes in the school’s curriculum cannot be warranted and that the researchers could only offer suggestions to effect those changes. The impact of the research work was assessed with respect to motivation, learning experiences, availability of the system, effective feedback and ease of use of this new system. The technology-mediated delivery of teaching and learning increased learners’ motivation, increased their skill and also exposed them to critical thinking and self-directed learning. Revealed challenges that need both public and private support of the project is to be sustained and for the research community to derive full benefit of the initiative.
