The Relationship between Church and State
Year: 2013
Type: article
Abstract: Th is art icle is an attempt to prove that Church and State are two realms inseparable basically because they concern the same subject matter, namely man and wo man, who are both material and spiritual. This art icle sought primarily to provoke thinking in these great issues of the day, and tried to d iscuss how religious people, both individually and co llectively, can take up the challenge and responsibility posed by the current political, social and economic thinking and action especially in Africa. The findings of the research indicate that there is no blueprint pattern of behaviour of relig ion and polit ics relationship anywhere that could be transplanted and fitted into our situation in Africa. The Bible, Qur'an or any other religious scripture will at best give the princip les and not the prescription for their adherents in a particu lar p lace. It is up to the people of a particular milieu to apply these principles to their present circu mstances and time.
