Abstract: Single-cell studies provide foundational insights into human immune cell function in health and disease. We review these biological insights and the trend toward spatial and multiomic technologies. We propose that Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable data sharing and unified cell ontologies are crucial for progress toward a large-scale and comprehensive human immune atlas.
