Year: 2023
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: A 78-year-old female with a history of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was admitted for fatigue, lower extremity weakness, and vision changes. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a ring-enhancing multiloculated lesion (Figure 1a). Blood cultures were negative. No definitive evidence of pulmonary infection was seen on chest X-ray. The patient deferred brain biopsy and then empiric treatment with ceftriaxone, flucytosine, and amphotericin was started. The patient had never received trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole prophylaxis.
