Modulating Ionic Transport and Interface Chemistry via Surface‐Modified Silica Carrier in Nano Colloid Electrolyte for Stable Cycling of Li‐Metal Batteries (Small 43/2023)

Type: article
Abstract: Li-Metal Batteries In article number 2302722, Hongkyung Lee and co-workers demonstrate Li dendrite suppression and improve cycling stability of Li-metal batteries (LMBs) using a nano colloid electrolyte with surface-modified SiO2. Providing many active sites at the SiO2 can regulate the Li+ microenvironment by attracting anions and additives, further granting the intelligent roles in enhancing a Li+ transference number. Moreover, the co-deposition of SiO2 can deliver anions and additives toward the Li-metal surface, building a reinforced solid–electrolyte interphase (SEI). Smartly designed functional groups of nanoparticles are crucial for controlling ionic transport and SEI chemistry in LMBs, in addition to selecting nanomaterial bodies.
