Abstract: Public secondary schools play a vital role in imparting knowledge and skills to students, which are essential for their personal and societal development. However effective learning cannot take place without educational facilities. Public schools are established and managed by the government, but at other times the community plays a support role in contributing to the security of the school, decision-making, and infrastructural development among other things. This study aims to examine the relationship between community participation in the provision of educational facilities in public schools and community development, using the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State as a case study. The ex-post facto research design was employed for the study. A sample size of 600 respondents was randomly selected from the six local government areas that make up the Senatorial district. 575 questionnaires were properly filled and returned. Pearson moment correlation coefficient was used for analysis. The result from the analysis shows that there exists a significant relationship between community participation in the provision of educational facilities and community development in Cross River State. The study therefore recommends the need for the community, non-government organizations and individuals to support the development of education and other sectors in the State.
