Abstract: Background. Starting from September 1st, 2023, access to vaccines for the adult population of Romania through free or subsidized schemes has been expanded by introducing a new mechanism for compensating vaccines for population segments other than those included in the National Vaccination Calendar. In March 2024, the Vaccinology Group of the National Society of Family Medicine launched the online questionnaire “Evaluation of the family physician’s perception of the vaccine compensation process”, on Google Forms, comprising 31 questions, intended for family physicians in Romania. Results. Between March 4th and 14th, 2024, a total of 437 family physicians responded to the questionnaire (297 of whom practice in urban areas, 126 in rural areas, and 14 in both urban and rural areas), representing 4.13% of the total number of family physicians in Romania. 68.6% of family physicians believe that the current compensation mechanism greatly or moderately benefits patients. However, approximately 10% of physicians believe that the program does not bring benefits. Conclusions. The new vaccine compensation mechanism has not encountered major difficulties. Overall, it has been well received by family physicians and patients.
