Abstract: Textile wastewater poses a significant global challenge due to its detrimental environmental impact. Conventional textile wastewater treatment methods are inadequate and produce toxic end byproducts. Consequently, there is a dire need to develop cost-effective and environmentally friendly methods for textile wastewater treatment. Recently, the use of nanotechnology proved to be an emerging technology for textile wastewater treatment. Among nanoparticles, biologically synthesized nanoparticles are gaining importance among researchers due to their environmental friendliness and enhanced reactivity. This book chapter emphasizes sources, effects, and treatments of textile wastewater using green synthesized nanoparticles. It also highlights different biological sources for the synthesis of nanoparticles, their characterization, treatment efficiency, and future directions. Biologically synthesized nanoparticles can effectively treat textile wastewater through adsorption, photolytic degradation, and membrane filtration because they possess many functional groups.
