Abstract: The existence of Nibung (Oncosperma tigillarium) in Jambi is spread across the coastal areas of Jambi, namely Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency and Muaro Jambi Regency which lead to the mainland.Utilization of Nibung without replanting has resulted in the existence of Nibung decreasing in nature.Efforts to conserve Nibung in Jambi have never been carried out, this is because the cultivation techniques that can be applied in Nibung management are not yet known.One of the factors that must be considered in cultivation is determining the growth requirements.This study aims to obtain the biophysical conditions of the place where Nibung grows in nature in order to determine the growth requirements of Nibung so that it can be cultivated.The study will be conducted in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency and Muaro Jambi Regency for six months.The research implementation method includes making sample plots, vegetation analysis (Density, Dominance, Frequency of Important Value Index) and analysis of the biophysical conditions of the place where Nibung grows.To achieve the research objective, map the area of Jambi province that has the potential to develop Nibung based on the similarity of the biophysical conditions of the place where Nibung currently grows.Then the results of the biophysical data will be seen by overlaying the overall biophysical conditions of Jambi province using ArGIS software.Based on the results of observations in the field, it was found that Nibung is able to grow in wet to peat soil areas.This research will still be continued because it has only been completed by 70%.
