Abstract: Background: Assessment tools in surgical education help identify specific areas where trainees need improvement, allowing for targeted instruction and support. Examples such as an Entrustable Professional Activities (EPA) framework, the SIMPL OR app, and OpTrust are useful but have limitations within complex disciplines such as transplantation. We describe the development of and present validity evidence for a novel transplant-specific operative assessment tool to optimize technical feedback for surgical trainees.
