Abstract: More and more people are turning to Christian spiritual values in our difficult life period associated with military operations in Ukraine. The need for proper restoration of destroyed Orthodox temples, their reconstruction and construction of new ones requires appropriate applied research. One of the key tasks is the systematization and generalization of historical architectural traditions with the aim of their preservation and further successful application. As an object of scientific research the Chernihiv region was chosen due to its leading role in the formation of our state, in particular, on the basis of Christianity. Chernihiv was the second city after the capital during the times of Kyiv Rus. The Cossack state Hetmanshchyna was located on the territory of Chernihiv region in the 17th and 18th centuries. The construction of many sacred buildings is based on the geometric shaping of their parts, which corresponds to certain canonical religious rules. It is known that architectural styles are understood as a set of important features of buildings of a certain historical time and geographical location, which are revealed in functional, constructional and artistically features. The first contribute to achieving a high level of satisfaction of people's practical needs. In our case, this applies to Christian services, various ceremonies, such as christening, wedding, etc. The second provide the necessary strength, durability, etc., and the third realize aesthetic properties. For an Orthodox temple, these features are much wider and deeper than for an ordinary building. This is due to the fact that it is a holy place where people turn to God with their prayers. That is why, according to ancient traditions, Christians build temples that are aesthetically attractive both externally and internally. We note that only comprehensive fulfillment of the considered requirements ensures a high-quality Orthodox temple. This corresponds to the well-known triad of “usefulness, strength and beauty”, which is united into an integral system by proper architectural shaping, some issues of which are discussed in this publication. The article also defines the directions for the practical implementation of the proposed ideas through the use of modern computer information technologies on the example of structural-parametric automated geometric modeling.
