Abstract: In international politics, the Syrian civil war has been an enigma of sorts. This sanguinary bloodbath which began in the year 2011 during the much hallowed “Arab spring”, as a protest movement against the Syrian Ba’athist regime led by President Bashar al Assad, transmogrified into a brutal civil war claiming the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians and plunging the nation into a conflict which engulfed the country and its diverse populace.
