Teacher–GenAI Collaboration to Co-Design Lesson Plans: Theoretical Framework and Usability Study

Abstract: To actively engage in the process of high-quality lesson planning, teachers require personalized support.This study explores how generative AI (GenAI) can enhance this process via interactive and co-constructive collaboration.A hybrid teacher-GenAI co-design model was developed and tested on an online platform.Results indicate high user satisfaction and improved lesson planning competency.Teachers with stronger AI skills reported greater psychological need fulfillment, though this did not extend to co-design engagement or perceived competency.
