The Strategic Role of Defense Education in Strengthiening Indonesia’s National Security System

Abstract: ABSTRACT Defense education holds a strategic position in shaping a resilient and responsive national defense posture against both military and non-military threats. This article examines the vital role of defense education in strengthening Indonesia’s national security system amid evolving global and regional dynamics. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, the study highlights the contribution of defense education in enhancing national defense awareness, reinforcing national identity, and fostering synergy between civilian and military components. The findings indicate that integrated defense education within the national education system serves as a strategic instrument for instilling national values and preparedness. Therefore, optimizing the curriculum, training, and dissemination of defense education is key to building an adaptive and sustainable national security ecosystem. The study concludes that defense education is not merely an institutional necessity but a long-term investment in the country’s stability and sovereignty.
