Abstract: The aim of this paper is to discuss the ambiguity of Prouvé’s concept of ‘decoration’ through discourse related to his negation of ‘decoration.’ His references to ‘decoration’ were limited to issues related to ‘structure’ and ‘skin’. In particular, he criticized the decorativeness of the ‘skin’. This is because, for him, hiding the ‘structure’ with a ‘skin’ was nothing more than ‘camouflage’. Eventually, Prouvé began to aim for spaces where the interrelationship between structure and skin is clear. It is at this point that ‘decoration’ itself is permitted.
