I'll See That When I Believe It: A Dialogue on Epistemological Difference and Rural Literacies
Year: 2012
Type: article
Abstract: Why read? We take a turn in the conversation initiated by Jean Stockards article, Increasing Reading Skills in RuralAreas: An Analysis of Three School Districts (2011a), with a dialog in which we engage the epistemological positions atplay within this debate. We understand the different positions as representations of each authors ideas about what readingis and what reading is for. These ideas evoke productive questions of power and ideology which we argue should be positionedsquarely at the center of this debate.
