Chemical Profiling and Gut Health Impact of Lifestyle Products and Indian Herbs
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This project examines the impact of dietary components, particularly Indian spices and herbs, on shaping gut microbial balance and digestive health. A diverse set of samples was selected based on their traditional use in Indian diets and their reported bioactive properties. Both beneficial and pathogenic bacterial strains were included to represent the complexity of the human gut microbiome. To simulate gut conditions, bacterial growth studies were conducted under controlled laboratory conditions. Cultures were exposed to spice and herb extracts, and their effects on microbial proliferation were analyzed. The experiments revealed variations in bacterial growth, demonstrating the potential of certain dietary components to support beneficial microbes while inhibiting harmful ones. The findings emphasize the growing relevance of gut health in the context of modern lifestyles, where processed foods and poor dietary habits contribute to gastrointestinal disorders, metabolic imbalances, and weakened immunity. By linking microbial responses with dietary factors, this study provides insights into how natural food-based interventions can contribute to maintaining gut health and preventing disease.
