Abstract: The interview study aims to understand the qualitative coding practices, challenges, and anticipations of HCI researchers to inform subsequent development of a framework by identifying practices well-suited to AI assistance from participants’ responses. The overarching research goal is to explore the applicability of Large Language Models as research tools to enhance the richness and efficiency of qualitative coding. This registration occurs prior to data analysis, as data collection is ongoing.
