Abstract: Mate is consumed mainly in South America with increased demand in other countries based on by-products such as beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and foods with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, antiobesity and cardioprotective functions.Brazil is a major producer with a greater share of Paraná.Extractive production systems can use only native plants or densification, both without agrochemicals. In agricultural systems, yerba mate can be monoculture or intercropped. The industry commonly mixes extractive and agricultural yerba mate without distinction of origin. The objective of the study was to analyze the evolution of production, productivity and prices of extractive and agricul-tural yerba mate in Paraná.The data were obtained from the Paraná Institute of Economic and Social Development and evaluated by Exploratory Analysis of Spatial Data. The results showed that the pro-duction of yerba mate is concentrated in the Southern Region of Paraná.In the period 2000-2022, extractive production went from 110 to 379 thousand tons (t) and agricultural production from 206 to 317 thousand tons, with an increase in yield from 4 t ha-1 to 9 t ha-1 between 2011 and 2022.The average producer price of extractive yerba mate was three times that of agricultural origin in the year 2000, decreasing to less than 10% 20 years later. It is concluded that the benefits of extractive production are the better quality of the product and the preservation of the forest and genetic resources, which can be used to obtain a germplasm bank YERBA MATE PRODUCTION SYSTEMS IN PARANÁ AND SUSTAINABILITY8 and traceability for the valorization of the regional product, improving the income to the producer.
