A Role of Fintech in Enchancing the Efficiency of Crowdfunding

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This study examines the role of financial technology (FinTech) in enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of crowdfunding platforms. As digital transformation accelerates, crowdfunding has evolved into a major alternative financing mechanism, supported by advanced technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, digital payment systems, and data analytics. Through a qualitative, conceptual research design, this study synthesises existing literature to explore how these innovations improve operational processes, reduce transaction costs, strengthen verification systems, and build trust among investors and fundraisers. The conceptual and theoretical frameworks, grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model, UTAUT, and Financial Intermediation Theory, collectively explain how technological adoption influences user behaviour, platform credibility, and funding outcomes. Findings reveal that fintech-enabled crowdfunding significantly contributes to financial inclusion and supports sustainable development initiatives, particularly in developing economies. However, challenges such as regulatory ambiguity, cybersecurity risks, and digital literacy gaps persist. The study recommends strengthening regulatory frameworks, enhancing cybersecurity, expanding digital literacy programmes, and encouraging broader integration of AI and blockchain to optimise platform performance. Overall, the research concludes that fintech innovations are transforming crowdfunding into a more efficient, inclusive, and transparent financial ecosystem, offering substantial potential for future economic growth and social impact.
