Kinematic Selection III — Horizons and Boundaries
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Third of three companion papers. Paper I states the postulate and its forced consequences; Paper II works out the embedding and what it allows. This paper applies the two structural features of the postulate — the monotone advance, and the reflection axis it supplies — to horizons, boundaries, the fermion sector, and causal structure. The results are held to the same standard as the earlier papers, with a difference in evidential status that is marked in §1. No equation of general relativity, special relativity, or quantum field theory is modified. Abstract Papers I and II built the framework and its directly falsifiable predictions. This paper takes the same two structural pieces — a monotone advance that is the time direction, and the reflection axis the advance supplies — and applies them to a cluster of topics the framework points at: horizon thermodynamics, black-hole information, the beginning of the universe, the chirality of fermions, and causal structure. The results divide into two kinds, kept apart. Some are re-readings of standard results that the framework gives an ontological home. The horizon temperatures — Hawking, de Sitter, Unruh — are the Gibbons–Hawking periodicity results, and in the framework the periodicity is a smoothness condition on the leaf's embedding rather than a calculational device: the advance is Euclidean time, and the leaf must close up near a horizon without a conical defect, which fixes the temperature. The black-hole Page curve follows from the monotone advance together with the inherited quantum-field-theory area law, with no extra assumption. Others are forced by the postulate and are new in this setting: a horizon is where the leaf's embedding caps off as a one-sided boundary; the Big Bang is the same kind of boundary in the past, a time rather than a place, because the advance is time — while the collapse to zero size itself is inherited from the matter content, not manufactured by the framework; every wormhole throat is a one-sided boundary rather than a passage, by a geometric obstruction independent of the usual exotic-matter argument; closed timelike curves are excluded, because a monotone advance is a global time function; and the reflection about the advance axis is chirality conjugation, so the arrow fixes the sign of every chirality-sensitive quantity while leaving the chiral structure itself inherited. These topics do not carry the direct falsifiability of the cosmological exclusions of Paper II. The mathematics is held to the same standard — every claim is a verified reduction, a forced sign, or a cited theorem — but the verdicts are not testable in the way that "no open universe" is, and we mark that difference. We close with one speculative remark about the onset of the advance, marked as such.
