After the Vitruvian Paradigm: Capra, Relational Consciousness, and the Syntropic Turn in the Philosophy of Science

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This essay offers a public philosophical reconstruction of the critique of the Vitruvian paradigm: the modern image of the isolated observer standing before a world treated as external, neutral, measurable, and available. Taking Fritjof Capra’s reception as a historical symptom rather than as a scientific proof, the text distinguishes scientific method from the tacit ontology that often accompanies modern scientific culture. The essay does not propose a new theory of physics, nor does it attempt to prove spirituality through science. It treats terms such as “fractal consciousness,” “field,” “attunement,” and “syntropy” as philosophical and hermeneutic categories. Its central claim is that science becomes more responsible, not less, when it recognizes the image of reality from which it thinks. This is a public English adaptation of the Portuguese text “O Físico Herege e a Queda do Paradigma Vitruviano: Consciência Fractal, Ṛta e o Manifesto Sintrópico da Nova Ciência,” originally published in Śraddhā Yoga Darśana.
