Spatio-temporal analysis of agricultural drought in Syria: analysis pipeline (2000-2025)
Year: 2026
Type: software
Abstract: Analysis code accompanying the manuscript "Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Agricultural Drought in Syria Using a Multi-Index Remote Sensing Framework and Advanced Spatial Statistics (2000-2025)". A single self-contained Python pipeline reproduces the full analysis: Google Earth Engine preprocessing of MODIS and CHIRPS data, SPEI fitted per pixel from a three-parameter log-logistic distribution estimated by unbiased probability weighted moments, VCI, TCI and VHI, run theory event characterisation, Mann-Kendall and Sen's slope trend detection, inferential spatial statistics (Global Moran's I, Getis-Ord Gi*, Local Moran's I with 999 permutations and false discovery rate correction), a composite drought risk index, a full sweep of the VHI weight simplex against national wheat production, and external validation against the TerraClimate Palmer Drought Severity Index. Study domain: Syria, 1 km resolution, spring season (March to May), 2000 to 2025.
