Abstract: The degree project focused on designing an environmental management plan, conceived as a fundamental tool to optimize the final disposal of solid waste generated within the Archidona Educational Unit, located in the Archidona canton, province of Napo. To develop this proposal, the study baseline was determined with the use of observation techniques, surveys and interviews aimed at a representative sample of the educational community, in order to diagnose the situation of the institution in terms of solid waste management, in their different stages until their final storage. As complementary data, per capita production (0,014 kilogram/person/day) and percentage classification according to the type of waste were determined. The analysis of the results guided the formulation of sustainable strategies for the last phase of solid waste that were included in the activities and programs of the designed environmental management plan. In this way, the plan focused on promoting improvement the integral management of solid waste through the implementation of reduction, recovery and environmental education programs aimed at the institutional community. At the same time, it sought to promote a sustainable approach that benefits the Educational Unit and contributes positively to its environmental environment.
