Myocardial Work Assessment in Pediatric Subaortic Stenosis: Should the Doppler Gradient Be Added?
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Noninvasive myocardial work (MW) analysis using pressure-strain loops has emerged as a novel echocardiographic tool for assessing left ventricular (LV) function.1-3 The method assumes that peak LV systolic pressure approximates brachial systolic blood pressure (BP)4; however, this assumption may not hold in the presence of left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction, in which a pressure gradient exists between the LV and the systemic circulation.5
