Abstract: Motivation Quantum key distribution (QKD) offers provably secure communication regardless of the technology available to potential eavesdroppers. Space-to-ground QKD facilitates long-distance key distribution without costly terrestrial infrastructure. The Polarization-modUlated Laser Satellite Experiment – Quantum (PULSE-Q) is a 12U CubeSat mission to leverage recent innovations in compact quantum sources and optical communication to achieve space-to-ground QKD.
