Abstract: Pesticides are utilized extensively in homes, farms, and public health organizations; they are now considered an unavoidable component of the environment. Organophosphate pesticides, such as dichlorvos or 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate (DDVP) are frequently found in the water sources. DDVP is detrimental to aquatic life and other flora and fauna. Hence, developing environmentally friendly and cost-effective methods for its degradation is crucial. In this paper, we focused on the sol-gel technique for the synthesis of N-TiO 2 with varied N: Ti ratios (1:10), (1:20), and (1:30 where for TiO 2 , TiCl 4 was used while for nitrogen-doping polyethyleneimine (PEI) was used. Analysis of the synthesized catalyst was carried out by surface area analyzer (SAA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PLS). The photocatalytic effectiveness of the prepared catalysts was determined by observing the degradation of DDVP under visible light and varied conditions, such as irradiation time, catalyst dose, initial DDVP concentration, and pH. According to the N:Ti ratio (1:10, 1:20, and 1:30), the highest degradation was observed to be 70, 78, and 74%, respectively. The degradation followed pseudo-second-order kinetics, and the isotherm data suited the Freundlich isotherm well. The reusability studies indicate that the N-TiO₂ photocatalyst maintains high performance over multiple cycles, confirming its stability and practical applicability for the degradation of DDVP. The outcome validates that N-TiO 2 with N:Ti ratio 1:20 is a reliable and efficient photocatalyst for DDVP degradation.
