Understanding how people with and without current and previous eating disorders experience café environments in the UK
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: This study aims to develop a self-report measure of social eating anxiety, avoidance, and self-efficacy in café environments. With bespoke questions for café environments that have been informed by existing scales measuring anxiety and avoidance in relation to public spaces, and self-efficacy, the objective is to evaluate differences between anxiety, avoidance, and self-efficacy in relation to café settings between people with current eating disorders, people with past eating disorders, and people who have never experienced an eating disorder.
