The Impact of Different Current Limiting Strategies on the Dynamic Behavior of Terminal Voltage in Grid-Following Converter After Faults
Year: 2026
Type: book-chapter
Abstract: This paper investigates the influence of three current-limiting strategies—angle priority, d-axis priority, and q-axis priority—on the post-fault terminal voltage dynamics of a grid-following converter in a single-machine infinite bus system. A system model is established, and time-domain simulations are conducted under grid voltage sag conditions. The results indicate that the d-axis priority strategy triggers positive feedback between the d-axis current and the DC-link capacitor voltage, clamping the terminal voltage below the rated value without recovery. In contrast, the angle priority and q-axis priority strategies contribute to the stable recovery of the terminal voltage to the rated value. This study does not consider the impact of low-voltage ride-through strategies, which require further research.
