Finite-Time Feedback Control for Charging of a Qubit Quantum Battery

Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Quantum batteries have attracted significant interest as a new paradigm for energy storage at the quantum scale. They exhibit unique advantages, such as enhanced charging performance and the potential to surpass classical limits through nonclassical effects. While significant progress has been made in understanding optimal charging protocols using open-loop control and variational techniques, the design of feedback-based control laws ensuring finite-time convergence remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we formulate the charging of a qubit quantum battery as a nonlinear control problem and propose a Lyapunov-based finite-time feedback control law. A physically meaningful Lyapunov function directly related to the stored energy is employed to derive a discontinuous control strategy that guarantees finite-time convergence to the fully charged state. Rigorous convergence analysis is presented, and numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
