Abstract: The Islamic Revolution was a turning point in the history of modern Iran, marking a change in the regime’s ideology and a shift in its policy. In its attitude toward Israel, Iran moved from close friendship to bitter animosity. In the past, the countries were distant from each other, but Iran’s increased involvement in the region, directly or through its proxies, turned it into a kind of neighbor with which conflicts intensified. Iran’s nuclear program has added critical dimensions to the enmity. Since April 2024, the conflict has escalated from a shadow war to mutual attacks, creating a significant shift in the balance of power in favor of Israel. This article examines Iran’s policy toward Israel, focusing on two crucial areas—regional policy and the nuclear program. Finally, it examines their bilateral relations following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, until the end of 2024.
