Minimal data set for PONE-D-26-35226: passenger co-deletion and glutaminolysis signatures across fourteen cancer types

Year: 2026
Type: dataset
Abstract: Tumour-level derived variables underlying the manuscript "Passenger co-deletion confounds glutaminolysis signatures anchored on PTEN loss: a cautionary case for location-aware signature design" (PLOS ONE, PONE-D-26-35226).One row per tumour for 6,186 tumours across fourteen TCGA PanCancer Atlas cohorts, carrying PTEN copy-number tier and ordinal severity, PTEN mutation class, per-gene expression z-scores and the glutaminolysis signature score, copy number for the signature genes and 10q23-q24 interval neighbours, consensus tumour purity, per-sample aneuploidy score, microsatellite instability score, tumour mutational burden, ERG expression, a proliferation index, and overall survival. Includes a data dictionary, the list of seventeen studies assessed but excluded with their tier counts, and SHA-256 checksums. No new data were generated. Derived from TCGA PanCancer Atlas expression, copy-number, mutation and clinical data obtained through the cBioPortal datahub, and from the TCGA PanCanAtlas ABSOLUTE consensus purity tables. Primary data are third-party and remain publicly available from those sources. The complete analysis code is archived separately at Zenodo (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.21195209).Two variables used in the manuscript are not reproduced here and are read directly from the primary sources by the analysis code: pathological T stage, available in the cBioPortal clinical patient table as PATH_T_STAGE, and copy number for the full set of 44 chromosome 10q23-q24 genes used in the interval analysis, available in the cBioPortal copy-number file.
