Fabrication of WO 3 @Cu Integrated GCN Electrodes for Hybrid Supercapacitors

Type: article
Abstract: This article develops and fabricates electrode materials composed of metal oxides that are constructed on nanosheets of metal-grafted graphitic carbon nitride (GCN). Copper (Cu) was in situ grafted onto GCN nanosheets, and a chemical co-precipitation approach was used to integrate the tungsten oxide (WO${}_{{3}}\text {)}$into the Cu/GCN nanosheets. To synthesize the WO3nanoparticles, a hydrothermal approach was used in conjunction with an acid-aided precipitation process. A new ternary composite of WO3@Cu/GCN has been proposed and characterized using structural and electrochemical investigations. A high charge storage capacitance of 1275.71 F$\cdot $g${}^{-{1}}$was reported for the WO3@Cu/GCN when tested at 1 A$\cdot $g${}^{-{1}}$. After 10 000 cycles of continuous use, it demonstrates an 84.8% capacitance retention at 15 A$\cdot $g${}^{-{1}}$. The WO3@Cu/GCN composite possessed an enhanced energy density of 126.45 Wh$\cdot $kg${}^{-{1}}$and power density of 12.7 kW$\cdot $kg${}^{-{1}}$. Due to the synergistic integration of WO3and Cu on GCN nanosheets, WO3@Cu/GCN offers exceptional morphological structure and energy storage properties and is proposed as a promising electrode for hybrid supercapacitors.
