“Corpos quebrados”, “Corpos descartáveis”: Desgastes corporais em processos saúde-doença entre diaristas imigrantes de enclaves de agricultura intensiva no sul da Espanha
Year: 2023
Type: article
Abstract: In the region of Murcia, in southern Spain, the global enclaves of intensive agriculture are supported by immigrant labor, mainly from different countries in Latin America and Africa. The accumulation strategies of these sectors imply the imposition of labor conditions, such as the intensification of work rhythms and the extension of working hours, in order to increase productivity at low cost. In this sense, the general objective of this article was to reconstruct, from a socio-anthropological perspective, the experiences of male and female workers in relation to the processes of bodily wear and tear, linked to the organization and working conditions; variables that are expressed through different physical and emotional discomforts, and that finally cause as a consequence the shortening of productive life.
