Study design: Case Report
Abstract: A 16-year-6-month, old post-pubertal male A. N. U. reported to the clinic with a presenting complaint of irregular upper & lower teeth and a “bad bite”. Upon clinical assessment the patient was diagnosed as Skeletal Class I, with an average growth pattern. He had a complete unilateral buccal crossbite with the upper left quadrant, blocked-out tooth number 12, edge to edge bite, non-coincident midlines. The dental relationship was an Angle’s Class I malocclusion on the right side; the molar relationship could not be determined on the left side because of a crossbite. The maxillary arch is constricted (collapsed) and the mandibular arch was broad. There was a functional shift. Treatment plan included a one phase non extraction plan with Miniscrew Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion. Pre adjusted edgewise appliance (0.022” x 0.028” in slot) MBT prescription was employed. Orthodontic treatment commenced on 16 July 2022, and concluded on 12 November 2025. The post-treatment results were highly satisfactory showing improvement in facial features and occlusal traits.
