Abstract: Generic hardware/software system architecture for professional Internet of Things applications has beendesigned and implemented. The system architecture is based on a multi-agent system approach and uses event-baseddata stream management technologies for data fusion. The described approach has been validated in two real-worldsettings: A cyber-physical production systems (CPPS) and a smart building closed-loop control system with simulationsupport (CyPhREE). Acquired event-based data is integrated and used to control and optimise system processes usingdata science approaches. Finally, technologies and concepts from data science, big data analysis and data mining ofthe gathered data are described and their integration is proposed.
