Abstract: The study explored the role of religious bodies in plant maintenance for implementing UBEprogrammes in Nigeria. Specifically, the study examined the extent of the role of the religiousbodies in the UBE Programme for plant maintenance in junior public secondary schools inKogi State: one research question and a hypothesis guided the study. A descriptive researchsurvey design and quantitative approach were used. Religious Leaders Involvement in PlantMaintenance (RLIPM) served as an instrument. A sample of 387 UBE principals consisting of191 (49%) urban and 196 (51%) rural was selected using the proportionate stratified samplingtechnique. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyse the research question and z-teststatistics tested the hypothesis at the 0.05 significance level. The descriptive analysis revealedthat the religious bodies were poorly involved in plant maintenance and in implementing theUBE programmes efficiently and effectively at public junior secondary schools in Kogi State.
