Temporal weight-position mapping: time-resolved parameter dominance of electron dynamics in nonlinear Thomson scattering
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: We present temporal weight–position mapping (TWPM), a time-resolved sensitivity framework for identifying parameter dominance in nonlinear Thomson scattering. Combining Latin-hypercube sampling with robust pointwise regression, TWPM resolves standardized sensitivities of laser amplitude, beam waist, and magnetic field across eight channels and maps them onto the electron trajectory. Three representative configurations—conical, Gaussian, and solenoidal—span co-propagating, sweeping, and magnetically confined regimes, revealing a common evolution from competition to cooperation or partition, followed by transition or interruption. Radiated-power sensitivity shifts from geometry to amplitude, is truncated by pulse sweeping, or migrates to magnetic-field sensitivity, offering a sensitivity-based design perspective for tailored Thomson sources.
