A Hexagonal Highly Selective Frequency Selective Surface Based on Antenna-Filter-Antenna
Year: 2026
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: A hexagonal highly selective frequency selective surface (FSS) based on antenna-filter-antenna (A-F-A) structure is proposed in this paper. The proposed unit cell comprises two back-to-back magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antennas integrated with a novel intermediate filtering layer. A wide passband is achieved through the synergistic operation of four distinct resonant modes, and the novel filtering layer enables the FSS to exhibit broad out-of-band suppression. Finally, the proposed FSS achieves a 48.6% 3-dB fractional bandwidth (FBW3dB) in the passband, and 74.7% and 175.2% 10-dB fractional bandwidth (FBW10dB) in the lower and upper rejection bands, respectively. The S-parameters remain stable under an oblique incident angle of 30° for both TE and TM polarizations. This research presents a novel FSS design with promising practical applications.
