Abstract: SUMMARY The author, in a critical revision of the species of the genus Periscyphis Gerstaecker, currently listed for Ethiopia, shows that Periscyphis jannonei Arcangeli and Periscyphis hugscotti Barnard are synonymous and that the species pilosus Arcangeli should not be ascribed to the genus Periscyphis but to another genus, yet to be established; he describes two new species Periscyphis erythraeus and Periscyphis abyssinicus, and presents a dichotomic key for the recognition of the Ethiopian species described so far.
