Abstract: The text brings together some research and extension experiences carried out within the scope of the Benedicto Monteiro Library (BBM), at the Ananindeua University Campus of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). The objectives of the work involve the act of bringing together and disseminating research and extension activities carried out by the library team, aiming to expand actions and appropriate knowledge outside the university, as well as creating closer relationships with local communities that are difficult to access. Such activities are aimed at communities that are difficult to access or receive little assistance in topics related to the formation, management and promotion of bibliographic collections, used in reader training activities in the initial grades of public education in the region. The creation of the Research and Extension Division at the library is justified in order to fulfill part of its mission, which consists of disseminating information with the aim of facilitating access, generating knowledge, as well as supporting the research needs of the external community to the Campus. The result, in addition to establishing partnerships and helping the communities and schools involved in the project, the actions served as a basis for consolidating the creation of a sector specifically focused on working with research and extension projects at the Library. For this reason, it highlights the importance of development actions and support for socially inclusive activities, with broad respect for diversity and informational, social and environmental sustainability, always seeking to value human relationships and those between them and their environment.
