Abstract: The present study examines whether routine environmental audits actually nudge companies toward truly sustainable practice. By surveying literature published between 2000 and late 2021, the author compiles evidence on how systematic assessment of ecological footprint correlates with sharper compliance and cleaner operations. Poll records, permit updates, and internal memos yield a mixed-methods snapshot of outcomes that other observers had only hinted at. Nearly every site that honored the audit cycle reported smaller discharges, thriftier use of water and energy, and less friction with neighboring communities. Findings argue that boards unwilling to tether strategy to these examinations are jeopardizing both their bottom line and the planet's health.
