Abstract: Migrant workers play an important role in the socio-economic development of both their places of origin and destination. However, they often face significant challenges in accessing social security policies. This study investigates the accessibility of social security policies for migrant workers in Hanoi, Vietnam, focusing on those employed in both formal and informal sectors. A qualitative research method was used, including document analysis and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal notable differences between the two groups: migrant workers in the formal sector have better access to labor market policies, insurance, education, and social services, while those in the informal sector face many more obstacles. The study provides new data on migrant workers’ access to social security and offers practical insights that may help shape future policies on migrant labor management and national social protection systems.
