Which countries stream their own artists the most on Spotify? A cross-national analysis of 73 markets (2024–2025)

Abstract: This dataset and report analyze Spotify’s Top 200 weekly charts across 73 countries over 59 weeks (23 May 2024 – 10 July 2025). The study, conducted by the piano learning app Skoove in collaboration with DataPulse Research, investigates the share of local versus international artists in each national chart. India leads with 85% of positions occupied by domestic artists, followed closely by Turkey, Vietnam, and Italy. At the other end, countries such as Costa Rica, Guatemala, and El Salvador feature almost no local artists in their national charts. The dataset is based on Spotify Charts and includes weighted measures of chart presence (No. 1 = 200 points … No. 200 = 1) to reflect both frequency and prominence.
