Abstract: The storytelling skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Beberan 2, Serang Regency, were still low, particularly in pronunciation, intonation, voice volume, facial expression, gesture, expressiveness, and story plot delivery. This study aimed to determine the difference and improvement in students’ storytelling skills before and after the implementation of the storytelling method assisted by animated folktale videos. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design was used. The sample consisted of all 12 fifth-grade students in the 2025/2026 academic year, selected through saturated sampling, who received the treatment in three meetings. Data were collected through performance tests, observation, and documentation using a reliable seven-indicator rubric (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.927). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk test, Levene’s test, a paired-samples t-test, and N-Gain. The mean score increased from 37.50 on the pretest to 86.01 on the posttest (t = 29.016; df = 11; p < 0.001), with a mean N-Gain of 0.781 (high category). Therefore, the storytelling method assisted by animated folktale videos was effective in improving storytelling skills in the studied group. These findings should be interpreted in light of the design without a control group and the small sample size.
