Abstract: This study aims to describe (1) the implementation of the Learning Cycle 5E learning model in teaching persuasive speech writing, (2) students’ learning outcomes, and (3) students’ responses to the implementation of the model. This study employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of one Indonesian language teacher and 31 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 37 Medan. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the Learning Cycle 5E model had been implemented through five stages: engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation. However, its implementation was not yet optimal due to uneven student participation, limited instructional time, and insufficient feedback and reflection. Students’ learning outcomes achieved an average score of 72.26, with 11 students categorized as very good, 8 as good, and 12 as fair. Students’ responses indicated that the learning process provided valuable learning experiences, although they still experienced difficulties in determining topics, developing ideas, constructing arguments, and using persuasive language. Therefore, the implementation of the Learning Cycle 5E model has provided students with opportunities to participate in persuasive speech writing activities. However, further improvement is needed by increasing student participation, strengthening independent writing skills, and providing more focused feedback and reflection.
