Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Formal communication skills using proper and correct Indonesian are crucial for students of Medical Records and Health Information (MRHI). In practice, however, the use of non-standard language and errors in sentence structure are still observed during academic presentations. Objective: This study aims to analyze MRHI students' understanding of standard language, the implementation process of peer review techniques and academic simulations, and to identify the benefits and challenges associated with these approaches. Methods: This study employs a qualitative, descriptive approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving students from the Diploma III (D-III) MRHI program at the Health Polytechnic (Poltekkes) of the Ministry of Health in Tasikmalaya. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing). Results: The findings indicate that students perceive the use of standard language as essential for facilitating understanding and establishing a professional image. The integration of peer review techniques with academic simulations has been shown to enhance linguistic precision and self-confidence.
