Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This study aims to describe the forms of students' learning difficulties and the factors contributing to learning difficulties in Indonesian language learning, particularly in listening skills, at MTs Darul Lughah Wal Karomah. The novelty of this study lies in its contextual analysis of listening difficulties within an Islamic boarding school-based madrasah by identifying the relationship between students' physical condition resulting from intensive boarding school activities and the instructional methods used by teachers in influencing students' listening skills. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research participants consisted of one Indonesian language teacher (supervising teacher) and eight seventh-grade students, who were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through the stages of data coding, categorization, theme identification, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that students' learning difficulties in listening skills were characterized by low attention to the teacher's explanations, talking with classmates, engaging in activities unrelated to the lesson, and experiencing fatigue that caused drowsiness or even falling asleep during classroom instruction. The factors contributing to these learning difficulties were classified into internal and external factors. Internal factors included physical fatigue caused by intensive activities in the Islamic boarding school environment, resulting in limited rest time and decreased concentration during learning.
